What is Little Black Dress Initiative? The Little Black Dress Initiative (LBDI) is a poverty awareness fundraising campaign that uses the iconic LBD to raise awareness about poverty and its effects on women in society. Participants wear one black dress for five consecutive days to raise poverty awareness and illustrate the effects poverty can have on a person’s access to resources, confidence and employment opportunities. Go to the website listed to donate http://juniorleagueoflufkin.org/the-little-black-dress-campaign/ Where do the proceeds go? The funds raised make possible the work and mission of the Junior League. First, following the campaign vouchers will be issued to local organizations that serve those in need. The vouchers are then redeemed at the JLL Rummage Sale. Families can purchase a wide range of items such as cookware, clothing, blankets, beds and much more. Secondly, proceeds go to fund other JLL projects, such as backpacks for kids through Back to School Bonanza.
