POSITION: Full-Time Controller and Senior Director of Business Office – All Locations

EMPLOYMENT DATE: Until Filled

QUALIFICATIONS:

Master’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration, with a minimum of four years of experience in accounting with at least two years of supervisory responsibilities; or
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration, with a minimum of seven years of experience in accounting with at least three years of supervisory responsibilities required.
CPA License required.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, analytical, problem solving and accounting skills required.
Advanced proficiency with MS Excel required.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
Governmental or higher education experience preferred.
Experience with the Jenzabar suite of products preferred.
Demonstrate sensitivity to students with diverse academic, socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds, including those with disabilities.
Understand how to work successfully as a team within all levels of the organization and know how to contribute to the mission of the college.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The position will report to the Vice President of Business Affairs for job responsibilities and other College related activities as outlined in the Policies and Procedures Manual. Essential duties include but are not limited to the following:

Assure that customer service from the Business Office staff is of the highest quality.
Maintain a system of financial accounting, auditing, reporting, and record keeping in accordance with policies and procedures set forth by the State of Texas, Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB), and U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Lead the preparation of annual Financial Statements and Comprehensive Annual Financial Report, in accordance with GASB requirements.
Maintain the College’s Chart of Accounts.
Review, evaluate, and recommend improvements to the College’s accounting systems and procedures.
Plan and implement cross training and professional development of Business Office employees and coordinate financial related training for College employees.
Provide training and guidance on use of accounting system to College departments.
Prepare external financial reports for IPEDS, SACS, LBB, THECB and others.
Review, evaluate and implement effective internal control measures to ensure efficient financial operation of the College and the safeguarding of College assets. Serve as the College’s Internal Control Officer.
Supervise and evaluate Business Office personnel responsible for cash receipts, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and contract and grant accounting and compliance.
Assist with all budget preparations and management.
Review all budget submissions to ensure expenditures are in accordance with state, county, federal, and institutional guidelines.
Provide support to administration and budget managers in evaluating and administering their departmental budgets.
Develop, direct and oversee the Business Office work plan, operational procedures, and guidelines.
Implement and/or oversee implementation of new programs and projects.
Develop and evaluate departmental goals and objectives.
Maintain proper GL codes, create reports, and approve transactions within the AC system;
Update knowledge and skills through continuous training; and
Some evening responsibilities may be included.

CONTRACT & SALARY:     

Annual salary of $75,000 – $85,000 in addition to excellent employee benefits. Proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States must be verified for successful candidate.
