POSITION: Full-Time English Instructor – Lufkin
EMPLOYMENT DATE: August 2017
A master’s degree in English is required, but will consider a master’s degree with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in English.
At least 18 graduate hours in an additional teaching field preferred.
At least two years college teaching experience and a demonstrated commitment to improving assessment and student learning outcomes preferred.
Must possess the ability to interact with a diverse student population as well as faculty and staff.
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and be able to work well with the public and a diverse and multicultural student body.
JOB DESCRIPTION: This position will report to the Associate Dean of Instruction for Language Arts and Education for teaching responsibilities and other College related activities as outlined in the Policy and Procedures Manual. Essential duties include but are not limited to the following:
Teach developmental, freshman and sophomore level English classes;
Courses will include student learning outcomes and direct assessment strategies;
Teaching assignment will meet the demands of the service area. This may include early morning concurrent/high school dual credit, Internet, hybrid, off-campus, daytime, evening, and summer classes;
The list above is not all inclusive and other duties and responsibilities as described in the Angelina College Policies and Procedures Manual may be assigned as necessary.
CONTRACT & SALARY:
Nine month contract, but with willingness to teach a portion of the summer, with overload pay. Salary assigned according to salary schedule in addition to excellent employee benefits. Proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States must be verified for the successful candidate.
