DESCRIPTION:The Texas Forest Landowners Association\, a program of the Texas Forestry Association\, will host the annual Branching Out Seminar 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Friday\, August 21\, at the Pitser Garrison Convention Center\, located at 601 N. Second Street in Lufkin. The event is geared toward landowners\, foresters\, loggers\, land managers\, and anyone interested in forestry\, natural resources\, and landowner education. Seminar topics include pesticide law and regulation\, the decline of post oaks\, select harvesting to manage brush\, New World screwworm in wildlife\, and protecting working forests and rural communities. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore a wide range of exhibition booths and hear from guest speakers\, including Greg Grant with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension\, Brad Tullis\, with Texas Department of Agriculture\, Brett Lawrence\, with Stephen F. Austin State University\, and Kory Gann\, with Texas Parks & Wildlife Department. In addition\, Justin Parks\, with Natural Resources Conservation Service will provide a rainwater simulator demonstration and Rob Hughes\, Texas Forestry Association executive director\, will moderate a congressional panel featuring Congressman Pete Sessions and Congressman Nathaniel Moran. Online registration is required to attend and is $20 per person. The registration deadline is Tuesday\, August 18. Registration can be completed at texasforestry.org. Lunch is provided with registration.
