Let’s go fly a kite with The Helping House annual Family Kite Fest on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at the A. L. Mangham Jr. Regional Airport in Nacogdoches. From 11 am to 4 pm, there will be free admission for all who wish to picnic, sample a variety of vendors, enjoy entertainment activities, and of course, fly kites. This fun event is well-known around East Texas, but the public may not know that the Family Kite Fest is an important fundraiser for The Helping House (THH), a nonprofit school for children with autism and other developmental delays. “THH Board of Directors want tuition to be affordable for all families who need to utilize services,” said Cinthya Reppond, THH Board Chair. “More than half of our operating budget relies on donations and fundraisers to keep tuition at a reasonable cost while also providing students with one-to-one intervention therapy.” The Family Kite Fest is also an opportunity to introduce THH to the public while offering a free event that is fun for all ages. Because it is held at the airport, it can be especially enjoyable for individuals with autism who may find traditional festivals with noise and crowds difficult to navigate.
