The Mosaic Center
In 2005, The Mosaic Center began its mission as a non-profit education center for women, located in Lufkin, Texas, at 601 N First St. Twice a year, Spring and Fall, ladies enroll in a comprehensive, 12-week, Job & Life Skills Training program (8:30 am-2:00 pm, Monday-Friday). Our program is designed to help students identify goals, remove roadblocks and map out a plan of success.
During the 12-week program, our students start each day with Bible study and prayer. Throughout the semester they participate in classes teaching resume building, interviewing best practices, mock interviews with local community leaders, establishing healthy boundaries and making healthy decisions, money management, parenting, keyboarding, Microsoft Excel and Word and so much more.
The Mosaic Center’s staff and Board of Directors have established a strong partnership with Angelina College to ensure that each student has access to higher education and the encouragement needed to realize they can accomplish far more in life than they ever imagined. Furthermore, our teachers are exceptional and dedicated volunteers who are deeply invested in the success of each student. Their service is invaluable in helping fulfill our mission and vision.
During their 12-week semester, each student is enrolled through the Adult Education and Literacy (AEL) Center as part of our partnership with Angelina College. Many students will be prepared to pursue higher education, while others work diligently to study for and take their GED (high school equivalency) exams. While at The Mosaic Center, they gain needed skills, overcome mental and emotional obstacles, and build confidence for gainful employment. Our goal is to encourage, inspire and help our students grow in a healthy and supportive environment.
