Physical Therapy Assistant

Provides coordinated physical therapy to patients of all age groups under the supervision of a Licensed Physical Therapist. Participates in the coordination of care.

 

Provides services that are ordered by the physician as indicated in the plan of care, as developed, delegated, and supervised by the physical therapist. Notifies supervisor of changes in patient status or untoward patient responses Completes appropriate documentation in a timely manner. 

Administers non-complex active and passive manual therapeutic exercises, therapeutic massage, traction, heat, light, cold, water, and electrical modalities to patients. Discontinues any treatment which in their judgement is harmful to the patient. 

Applies concepts of infection control and standard precautions in performing patient care activities to prevent contamination and transmission of disease. 

Accepts clinical assignments that are consistent with education and competence to care for patients. 

Uses effective interpersonal relations and communication skills to provide patient and caregiver education. 

Meets mandatory continuing education requirements. 

Promotes compliance with all fiscal intermediary and/or other third-party payors, through education, coaching, and other assistance, as necessary. 

Documents care delivered timely and meet agency’s standards of submission of documentation.  

Reports care delivery to the overseeing Physical Therapist daily. 

Demonstrates commitment, professional growth, and competency. 

Meets productivity standards as outlined by the agency. 

Participates in the Agency sponsored in-service training.
