QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
- Associate degree or higher in nursing or emergency medical services from an accredited college or university.
- Experience:
- Three years of nonteaching experience in nursing or emergency medical services.
- Experience with simulation in an education environment.
- Certification or Licensure:
- American Heart Association BLS certification within first year of hire date.
- Certification in Healthcare Simulation CHSOS or CHSE within two years of hire date.
- Training or Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in using web-based learning management systems.
- Competence in health care, communication, leadership skills, and the ability to plan, direct, and supervise the work of learners.
- Basic proficiency with AV systems, and PC-based software.
- Computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (including Word, Excel, Publisher, and PowerPoint).
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Education, Simulation Technology, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
- Experience:
- In Allied Health education.
- Experience and skills in using current technology in healthcare simulation, particularly in scenario development and fostering interprofessional education.
- Proven experience in curriculum development, instructional design, or supporting academic programs.
- Certification or Licensure:
- Membership and participation in professional organizations.
- Certification in Healthcare Simulation, such as CHSOS or CHSE.
- Training or Technical Skills: Proficient with Google Workspace tools like Docs, Sheets, and Drive to create, share, and manage work.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The position will report directly to the Dean of Health Careers and functionally to the Assistant Vice President of Academic Affairs and Director of IT for job responsibilities and other College related activities as outlined in the Policies and Procedures Manual. Essential duties include but are not limited to the following:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and coordination for simulation operations to support the curriculum of both formal and informal teaching throughout the college while exemplifying the AC Way.
- For all campus programs that use simulation equipment, establish and keep a maintenance routine to ensure that equipment is in proper working condition.
- Coordinate with IT to ensure the timely installation of software updates for all campus simulators.
- Participate in the budget planning process to highlight any needs for upgrading, repairing, or replacing equipment related to any campus simulator.
- Strive to enhance professional competence, actively represent the college as an ambassador, and contribute to strategic planning efforts, all while embodying and promoting the college’s mission and vision.
- Participate in the development of policies and standards that affect students and faculty in simulation.
- Demonstrate professional growth in supporting clinical laboratory learning.
- Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the program of learning in simulation and evaluation of student performance in relation to the debriefing process.
- Per DCA Regulation, may teach overloads in keeping with guidelines for nonteaching staff members serving as instructors.
Simulation Coordination & Instructional Support
- Collaborate with faculty from nursing, EMS, respiratory therapy, and allied health to design, schedule, and implement simulation scenarios that align with course objectives and meet accreditation standards.
- Serve as a simulation facilitator and operator during live sessions, guiding the flow of scenarios and supporting debriefing sessions.
- Maintain a repository of interdisciplinary simulation scenarios and learning materials that align with curricular outcomes.
- Translate healthcare scenarios requested by faculty into a skills lab setting utilizing human patient simulation equipment; implement processes required for successful demonstrations using role play applications, prop placement, and moulage set-up to create the virtual healthcare setting.
- Address the needs of adult learners with diverse backgrounds.
- Provide instructional support for simulations and skills to enhance students' and faculty's competencies in meeting course objectives.
- Engage in evaluation of simulation in an effort to assess teaching skills/strategies and to improve effectiveness.
Operational Management
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral) to engage effectively with faculty, staff, students, and vendors, fostering a positive and cooperative working environment.
- Oversee the daily scheduling and logistical coordination of simulation sessions across multiple programs.
- Manage the lab’s calendar, allocate resources, and configure rooms to support concurrent and interprofessional activities.
- Ensure that simulation activities adhere to best practices, institutional policies, and relevant accreditation standards (e.g., INACSL, NCSBN, CoAEMSP).
- Collaborate closely with Simulated Patients to effectively schedule training sessions and manage moulage processes.
- Organize and conduct engaging simulation lab tours whenever the lab is available to enhance learning experiences.
- Ensure the utmost confidentiality of all learners to promote a safe and nonjudgmental environment.
- Report student problems to the appropriate instructional administrator.
Technical Support & Maintenance
- Demonstrates a high level of proficiency in both PC and Mac platforms, with experience in Microsoft Office and a strong aptitude for learning new software, including audiovisual and computerized simulation tools.
- Proficiency in simulation operations, including the use of high-fidelity manikins and simulation software (e.g., SimPad, LLEAP, SimCapture, Ingmar).
- Skilled in operating and troubleshooting high-fidelity manikins (e.g., Laerdal), task trainers, audiovisual equipment, and simulation software platforms.
- Responsible for performing routine maintenance, managing inventory, and executing repairs on simulation equipment and laboratory infrastructure.
- Coordinate IT integration and ensures comprehensive data backup for simulation recordings, documentation systems, and network-dependent devices.
- Demonstrate commitment to continuous learning by completing all required training, compliance courses, and professional development activities promptly and within established deadlines.
CONTRACT & SALARY:
$55,125.00 per year in addition to excellent employee benefits. Proof of identify and eligibility to work in the United States must be verified for the successful candidate.
