QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum of three (3) years of related work experience.
- Must pass a federal background check in order to obtain SCO certification clearance and Veterans Enrollment Manager security clearance.
- Training or Technical Skills:
- Experience with office equipment & Microsoft Office products such as Word & Excel; customer service skills; experience searching the Internet or databases.
- Proficient in email creation and transmission.
Preferred:
- Experience:
- Public speaking skills and experience delivering presentations to large and small groups as well as to individuals.
- Using Veterans Enrollment Manager (VEM).
- Using Jenzebar and PowerFAIDS.
- SCO certification.
- Training or Technical Skills:
- Proficient with Google Workspace tools (ex. Docs, Sheets, and Drive to create, share, and manage work).
- Research, analyze and compile data, and produce reports from complex datasets, surveys, and software programs.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The position will report to the Senior Director of Financial Aid for job responsibilities and other College related activities as outlined in the Policies and Procedures Manual. Essential duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Coordinate with the Business Office, Marketing Office, Admissions, Office of Academic Success, Student Services, and external agencies to promote and enhance Veteran services.
- Serve as the College’s Certifying Official for veterans’ educational benefits. Process benefit applications and certifies eligible veterans, reservists, dependents, and spouses. Verify student enrollment, attendance, and applicable coursework within the student’s degree program. Assist with evaluating prior training and credit. Evaluate, verify, and monitor student eligibility in accordance with Veterans Administration regulations.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations related to programs and services offered to veterans, active duty personnel, reservists, and veterans' dependents/spouses. Maintain confidential information.
- Ensure timely state and federal reporting related to services and activities, including federal and state funding applications and responding to internal, federal, and state audits.
- Analyze and interpret new/pending legislation and information from the Veterans Administration pertaining to Veterans Educational benefits.
- Maintain effective liaison relationships with the VA, Departments of Defense, Homeland Security, Texas Veterans Commission, and Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board to ensure compliance in reporting.
- Respond to inquiries related to veterans’ services. Provide information in an individual or large group setting to assist students in planning and organizing their educational and career goals and objectives. Interpret and explain federal and state regulations and legislation related to veterans' programs and services.
- Maintain and update VA and Hazlewood Act policy and procedure manuals.
- Review, verify, and report enrollment in VAOnce. Report the last date of attendance and adjust enrollment and tuition accordingly. Report academic probation and suspension, grades of F or W, and graduation dates to the VA at the end of each term. Calculate and report tuition and fees for each Chapter 33 student to the VA after the census date.
- Submit academic catalogs and calendars annually for VA approval.
- Develop and coordinate veteran activities and events including Angelina College campus orientations for veterans, Student Veteran Organization events, community presentations, and related events on and off campus. Develop and expand student veterans' activities to promote student veteran camaraderie.
- Review and award third-party funding vouchers for non-credit community services programs, determine student eligibility and appropriate award.
- Assist the financial aid office with processing federal financial aid applications, and assist students with the submission of their FAFSA and completion of their financial aid files.
- Complete check request to Business Office to return unused funds to the VA.
- Demonstrate commitment to continuous learning by completing all required training, compliance courses, and professional development activities promptly and within established deadlines.
CONTRACT & SALARY:
$16.75 per hour in addition to excellent employee benefits. Proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States must be verified for the successful candidate.
